Rose Quartz is a long standing symbol of love and matters of the heart. The oldest recorded pieces of jewelry containing these stones were beads found in present-day Iraq. They are believed to be a remnant of the Mesopotamian culture and have been dated all the way back to 7000 BC.
The Assyrians seem to be the next culture to prominently feature this stone in their craftsmanship, and they are probably responsible for the fact that the stone later became highly valued among Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians. The stone was ascribed with magical properties by these cultures, with some even believing it could counteract the effects of aging.
This cabochon has just a hint of the characteristic pink coloration, but with some areas of relative clarity the striations in the crystal formations are highly visible, making it an interesting piece. The setting is solid copper wire weaving, encasing the stone and giving an elegant flourish to the overall look of the piece. The copper has patina applied to give it depth and an antique look. This piece measures approximately 2 inches long from the top of the bail and one inch across the widest portion. It will arrive in a decorative box, tied with a satin bow, perfect for gifting. The pictured 18 inch chain is included.
