This stone was discovered in 1962 by Sid Pieters in a farmland in Windhoek, Namibia. It was named after his father Louis Pieters.
Pietersite is also known as Eagle’s Eye and the Tempest Stone, and can only be found in Namibia and some parts of China. It signifies the wild storm that can rage inside you, and the cleansing and renewal that it can bring after the storm has passed.
The characteristic dark midnight blue is streaked with golds and reds (in some cases even pink) and all of the colors have a slight chatoyancy. Overall it's a stunning effect that reminds of the night sky and shooting stars.
This pendant is wrapped in solid copper wire, framing the stone. The decorative woven elements are meant to enhance the beauty of the stone. Patina has been applied to the wire which brings an antique feel and highlights the weaving and details. Each piece is polished with jewelry polish for a lasting shine.
This piece measures approximately 2 1/4 inches long and7/8 inch wide, and the pictured 18 inch chain is included. All pieces ship in a decorative box, tied with a beautiful satin bow, ready for gifting.
